The Indian Embassy in Doha has issued an advisory urging all Indian nationals in Qatar to strictly follow instructions released by Qatari authorities amid what officials described as a developing security situation.
In a statement, the embassy said the Qatari Ministry of Interior has advised residents to remain in safe locations, avoid unnecessary movement, and stay away from windows and exposed areas.
Authorities also confirmed that Qatar’s airspace remains closed, with flight operations temporarily suspended. Qatar Airways said further updates on rescheduling and operations will be provided at 09:00 local time on Monday.
The embassy noted that the Qatari authorities have extended all categories of entry visas that have expired or are nearing expiry for one month, with the possibility of further extensions depending on developments.
It also advised Indian nationals in Qatar that the Salwa border crossing into Saudi Arabia remains open for those seeking to exit the country. Travellers holding valid US, UK, or Schengen visas may obtain visas on arrival in Saudi Arabia, while others are required to follow standard visa procedures.
For Indian nationals transiting through Qatar, the embassy has opened a registration system to facilitate temporary transit arrangements via Saudi Arabia, provided they hold confirmed onward travel tickets.
The embassy added that it remains in close contact with the authorities and is providing round-the-clock assistance to the Indian community through dedicated helpline numbers and email support.
