Oman Holds Workshop to Boost Statistical Expertise

Organised by the National Centre for Statistics and Information, the programme focuses on enhancing participants’ understanding of statistical methodologies, national accounts, and economic indicators used in planning and development.

Officials said the workshop also introduces techniques for calculating the value added of non-oil activities at governorate level, using internationally recognised standards to ensure accuracy and comparability.

The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to build national capacity in data analysis and improve the quality of economic reporting used in policy formulation. According to organisers, the training is designed to equip participants with practical tools to support more efficient governance and development planning.

The programme will continue over several days and includes technical sessions and presentations aimed at reinforcing the role of statistics in supporting sustainable development and informed decision-making across Oman.
