Saudi Arabia is set to bolster its position as a global industrial hub with the launch of a new state-of-the-art pre-engineered building (PEB) and structural steel manufacturing facility by Alghanim Industries. Located in Sudair Industrial City, the facility spans an impressive 256,000 square meters, signaling a major step toward the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goal of becoming a leading exporter of advanced steel structures.
The strategic investment will increase Saudi Arabia’s export capacity, with the facility expected to produce 100,000 metric tonnes of structural steel and 100,000 metric tonnes of PEB annually. The plant is set to supply high-quality steel structures to international markets, including the GCC, Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, and Southeast Asia, addressing growing global demand.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Bandar Alkhorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, emphasized the facility’s importance in advancing Saudi Arabia’s industrial diversification goals. The ceremony was also attended by Majid Al-Arqoubi, CEO of MODON, and other key executives from Alghanim Industries and Kirby Building Systems, underscoring the significance of this new venture.
The facility marks a significant milestone for Kirby Building Systems, which will now be the largest PEB manufacturer outside of North America. Saudi Arabia’s new plant will play a critical role in providing engineered steel solutions for sectors such as warehousing, industrial complexes, oil and gas infrastructure, and large-scale construction projects.
Mahmoud Samara, CEO of Alghanim Industries, referred to the facility as a game-changer for the Kingdom’s industrial sector, increasing manufacturing capacity and positioning Saudi Arabia as a global leader in steel production. “This expansion aligns with our long-term strategy to enhance Saudi Arabia’s global presence in the supply chain while creating local employment opportunities and expertise,” Samara said.
Kirby Building Systems operates manufacturing plants across multiple countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, India, and Vietnam, with a combined production capacity exceeding 585,000 metric tonnes per year. The new facility will not only support domestic infrastructure projects but also serve as a key supplier to regional and global markets, ensuring that Saudi-made steel structures meet international standards.
Kutayba Y. Alghanim, executive chairman of Alghanim Industries, added, “The growing global demand for scalable, high-quality steel structures makes Saudi Arabia an ideal location to meet these needs. By increasing our exports from the Kingdom, we are contributing to Saudi Arabia’s industrial transformation and solidifying its reputation as a global steel manufacturing hub.”
Aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, the facility is expected to foster job creation, skills development, and economic diversification. It will provide new employment opportunities for local engineers and manufacturing professionals, contributing to the Kingdom’s growing expertise in steel fabrication.
Incorporating advanced technologies such as CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, and laser-guided welding, the new plant will ensure the production of durable, efficient, and precision-engineered steel structures to meet international demand.
As the global market continues to seek innovative construction solutions, Kirby Building Systems’ new facility in Saudi Arabia is poised to lead the way in delivering world-class, export-ready steel structures. This expansion further establishes Saudi Arabia’s growing importance in the global industrial landscape, cementing its role as a leader in steel manufacturing and export excellence.
