Ambulance Driver Dies in Oman Duty Accident

An ambulance driver was killed and several crew members were critically injured after an emergency vehicle overturned while responding to duty calls in northern Oman, authorities said on Tuesday.

The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority said the incident took place in North Al Batinah Governorate when one of its ambulances was involved in a rollover accident during operational duties.

According to the authority, the driver died at the scene, while other crew members sustained serious injuries and were transferred to hospital for treatment. Officials did not immediately provide details on the cause of the accident or the number of personnel injured.

In a statement, the authority expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The incident has drawn attention to the risks faced by emergency response teams across the Gulf, where ambulance crews often operate under demanding road and weather conditions while responding to urgent calls.

Road safety remains a major public concern in Oman, with authorities regularly urging motorists to exercise caution and give priority to emergency vehicles during rescue operations.
