Saudi Arabia and Togo Boost Security Cooperation

Saudi Arabia and Togo have discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in security and counter-terrorism efforts during a high-level meeting in Lomé, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

In Togo, the Secretary-General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition, Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al-Moghedi, met with Togo’s Minister of Security and Civil Protection, Calixte Batossie Madjoulba, to review areas of joint cooperation.

The discussions focused on enhancing coordination between the Saudi-backed coalition and Togo in combating terrorism and extremist threats, as well as improving broader security and stability in the region.

Officials also reviewed shared priorities related to capacity-building and operational readiness within counter-terrorism frameworks.

The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition said the meeting forms part of its ongoing efforts to expand cooperation with member and partner states and strengthen collective responses to security challenges.

The Saudi-led coalition continues to support initiatives aimed at improving coordination between countries affected by extremist threats, particularly through training, strategic planning, and institutional support.

As part of the visit, the coalition also launched an initiative in Lomé to provide military equipment to Togo’s specialised counter-terrorism units. The support is intended to enhance operational capability and improve field readiness.

The development reflects wider efforts to deepen international collaboration on security issues, including increasing cooperation between Gulf states and African partners in addressing cross-border threats.
