Russia And Qatar Reject Military Escalation As Strait Of Hormuz Crisis Deepens

Russia and Qatar have called for a diplomatic solution to the ongoing tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, rejecting any military approach to resolving the crisis and stressing the need for regional stability.

The position was outlined during a phone call between Sergey Lavrov and Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, according to a statement from the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Both sides reviewed developments in the Strait of Hormuz and expressed concern over rising tensions affecting one of the world’s most important energy shipping routes. They emphasized that any military escalation should be avoided and underlined the importance of reaching a sustainable political solution.

The two ministers also stressed the need to safeguard the security interests of Gulf states while ensuring freedom of navigation through the strategic waterway. The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical corridor for global oil and gas shipments, making stability in the region a priority for both energy markets and international security.

The discussions reflect broader diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further escalation in a region already affected by heightened tensions. Russia and Qatar both reiterated that dialogue remains the only viable path to resolving the crisis.

Officials warned that military options could further destabilize the region, calling instead for coordinated international engagement to reduce risks and restore stability in maritime operations.
