North Al Batinah Council Advances Key Development Projects in Meeting

The North Al Batinah development plans took center stage during a municipal council meeting held in Sohar on Wednesday. Officials reviewed several service and infrastructure proposals aimed at improving public facilities and supporting local communities across the governorate.

The meeting was chaired by the Governor of North Al Batinah, who also leads the municipal council. Members discussed responses received from relevant authorities regarding ongoing service and development requests. The session focused on enhancing public infrastructure and addressing community needs in different wilayats.

One of the key topics included a proposal to establish a government-managed site for camel racing in Wadi Al Faras. Council members also examined plans to allocate land for a rehabilitation center dedicated to persons with disabilities in Wadi Hibi village. These initiatives form part of broader efforts to expand social services in the region.

The council also reviewed a request involving land allocation and integration near Hibi Fort. Officials discussed how better land planning could support both development and preservation of local heritage sites. In addition, members considered a new residential layout plan for Al Fulaij, aimed at improving housing organization in the area.

Infrastructure development also featured prominently in the discussions. Members reviewed a proposal to pave a key road linking Sultan Qaboos Road with the Al Batinah Expressway. The project targets improved traffic flow and better regional connectivity, especially in the Deel Al Abdulsalam area of Saham.

The North Al Batinah development plans also included a review of findings from the Health and Environmental Affairs Committee. Council members examined recommendations aimed at improving public health standards and environmental management across the governorate.

In another agenda item, officials discussed the current status of volunteer teams operating in North Al Batinah. They explored ways to strengthen their role in community service and expand their contribution to local initiatives. Members emphasized the importance of supporting volunteer work as part of civic engagement.

Council participants highlighted that coordinated planning remains essential for sustainable development. They stressed that infrastructure projects, social services, and community initiatives must align to support long-term regional growth. Officials also noted that continued cooperation with government entities helps accelerate project implementation.

The meeting concluded with agreement on the importance of following up on approved proposals. Members reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the North Al Batinah development plans through structured coordination and continuous evaluation of ongoing projects.
