Bahrain has imposed a maritime curfew to safeguard seafarers and protect its ports amid rising regional tensions. The Ministry of the Interior explained that the maritime curfew ensures safety at sea, prevents legal violations, and strengthens overall maritime security. Meanwhile, the Kingdom continues to face persistent threats from Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting critical infrastructure and industrial facilities.
Bahrain’s military reported that it intercepted 175 ballistic missiles and destroyed 391 drones aimed at the country. These numbers reflect a steady rise compared to previous reports on March 15 and March 24. The attacks have primarily targeted industrial sites, including Aluminium Bahrain, where two workers sustained minor injuries.
Additionally, Emirates Global Aluminium’s Al Taweelah facility in Abu Dhabi suffered significant damage, with six employees injured. The attacks have disrupted operations and added pressure on the Gulf’s aluminium and energy sectors.
Neighboring countries also faced threats. Saudi Arabia intercepted ten drones, while Kuwait destroyed four more. Oman reported damage to a major cargo-handling crane at Salalah port, halting port activities for safety checks. These incidents illustrate the broader regional impact of ongoing hostilities.
Experts note that enforcing the maritime curfew allows Bahrain to maintain operational control of its ports.
