UAE, US Launch First Joint Military AI Task Force

The United States and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to establish their first bilateral military task force dedicated to accelerating the development and deployment of artificial intelligence capabilities.

Announced by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the initiative, named Task Force Talon Synapse, is expected to begin operations in the coming weeks from Abu Dhabi.

The task force will bring together around 20 American as well as Emirati specialists in artificial intelligence, data and cybersecurity. It aims to develop AI applications that enhance military operations and strengthen defense cooperation between the two countries.

CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper described the initiative as a “historic milestone,” saying it reflects the close partnership between the United States and the UAE and their shared commitment to adopting advanced technologies for defense.

The idea for the task force was first discussed last year during talks between Cooper and UAE National Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan. CENTCOM later held meetings with Emirati defense officials and AI industry leaders to advance the project.

The launch underscores the growing role of artificial intelligence in modern defense strategies and highlights the expanding security partnership between Washington and Abu Dhabi as both countries invest in emerging technologies.
