Dubai Roads Fully Restored After Severe Weather, Authorities Say

Dubai roads fully restored after last week’s severe storms, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed, ensuring normal traffic flow. Authorities reported that all main roads and vital areas in the emirate are now back to full operation. They emphasized that preparedness and rapid response played key roles in minimizing disruption.

Officials explained that proactive measures began well before the weather system arrived. They coordinated closely with strategic partners to maintain safety and traffic continuity. In addition, advanced engineering solutions were deployed at over 14 critical locations across Dubai. These included expanding drainage inlets, installing temporary high-capacity pump connections, and creating retention ponds to absorb excess rainwater.

Furthermore, the RTA worked alongside Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, Civil Defence, and private partners to divide the city into operational sectors. This approach allowed rapid deployment of resources and quick responses to water accumulation. More than 380 pumps, over 500 water tankers, and 100 emergency vehicles were mobilized, supported by roughly 1,300 RTA personnel.

The joint command room at the unified control centre coordinated weather response operations with the National Centre of Meteorology. Teams monitored rainfall, historical data, and big data insights to anticipate risks and guide field operations. Advanced smart sensors in tunnels and underpasses provided real-time water level updates, enabling preventive measures like early water removal or traffic diversion.

Dubai roads fully restored also relied on new equipment and technologies. High-capacity pumping vehicles reached flooded areas faster, while innovative sensor systems allowed precise monitoring and timely action. Officials noted that no major road closures occurred, and minor disruptions were resolved quickly, demonstrating the emirate’s strong emergency planning.

The RTA plans to continue enhancing technical systems and apply lessons from every severe weather event. Authorities aim to strengthen preparedness and ensure Dubai roads fully restored under any future weather challenges.
