Kuwait Ministry of Commerce Cracks Down on Market Violations in Hawally

Kuwait emphasizes consumer protection as the Ministry of Commerce and Industry recorded 13 violations during an inspection campaign in Hawally Governorate. The campaign, conducted on Saturday evening, targeted multiple commercial stores to ensure compliance with regulations.

Minister of Commerce and Industry Osama Boodi led the inspections. He worked closely with the emergency inspection team to verify pricing, invoices, and product labeling. Moreover, the campaign aimed to safeguard shoppers and reinforce trust in local markets.

The violations included failing to follow fixed food price regulations, selling certain goods above approved prices, and not displaying prices clearly. Inspectors also identified irregularities in promotional offers, failure to issue invoices, and missing indications of the country of origin. These findings highlight the need for strict oversight to maintain consumer protection.

Furthermore, the ministry stressed that ongoing inspections play a vital role in controlling market practices. By monitoring prices and enforcing regulations, authorities ensure fair trading standards. Citizens benefit from these measures as markets remain transparent, reliable, and accountable.

Officials also emphasized that the campaign reflects Kuwait’s commitment to consumer protection across all governorates. In addition, inspectors encouraged store managers to adopt better compliance practices, provide accurate labeling, and follow pricing rules consistently. These steps improve market stability and protect public interest.

The ministry confirmed that emergency inspection teams will continue performing market campaigns regularly. They will identify non-compliance issues promptly and take necessary corrective actions. Authorities aim to prevent any future violations and strengthen consumer confidence in commercial practices.

Overall, Kuwait’s proactive approach demonstrates the importance of regulatory oversight. Coordinated inspections, clear communication with store owners, and consistent enforcement ensure a safer and fairer marketplace. By prioritizing consumer protection, the country sets an example for effective governance and market accountability.
