Iraq Rejects Use of Its Territory for Regional Attacks, Coalition Says

Iraq territorial sovereignty remains a top priority as the country’s ruling State Administration Coalition rejected using land for attacks. The coalition emphasized Saturday that Iraq must not become a launchpad for aggression against neighboring countries amid regional conflict. Its statement comes as tensions escalate between Iran on one side and the United States and Israel on the other.

The coalition, composed of major Shiite, Sunni, and Kurdish parties, convened for intensive discussions on the region’s dangerous developments and their potential impact. Officials highlighted the threats to Iraq’s security, economy, and the safety of its people if drawn into the ongoing conflict. Iraq territorial sovereignty, they said, requires firm measures to prevent the country from becoming a battleground.

“While stressing the necessity of not being drawn into ongoing regional conflict, we reject Iraq becoming a launchpad for aggression,” the coalition said. The statement condemned any acts that threaten Iraqi sovereignty, including attacks causing civilian casualties or destabilizing the country. Coalition leaders called for accountability for those responsible for violations of Iraq’s borders, waters, and airspace.

Iraq territorial sovereignty also relies on supporting state institutions and the armed forces to protect the nation from external interference. The coalition reaffirmed its backing for security forces, stressing their role in maintaining stability and enforcing national borders. It urged a return to diplomacy and negotiations as the only path to ending violence in the region. Leaders warned that continued escalation would bring destruction and suffering to people across the Middle East, undermining prospects for stability and development.

The coalition’s announcement comes amid wider regional instability, with neighboring countries affected by ongoing military strikes and political tensions. Iraq’s leadership aims to protect citizens while maintaining a balanced, non-aligned stance in an increasingly volatile environment.
