South Saad Project Must Meet Construction Schedule

The South Saad project remains a priority for Kuwait’s housing authorities, with the housing minister stressing timely completion and construction standards. Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Housing Affairs Eng. Abdullatif Al-Mishari made the remarks during a field visit on Thursday. He called on officials to maintain the approved schedule and ensure the development meets its housing objectives.

Al-Mishari visited the site alongside Eng. Rashed Al-Enezi, acting director general of the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW). The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to monitor construction progress and assess implementation across the development. During the inspection, the minister reviewed infrastructure works covering residential plots, buildings and public services.

Project officials and supervising engineers briefed the minister on progress across the various construction contracts. They also provided updates on implementation levels and completion rates for the different components. According to PAHW, current progress remains consistent with the established timetable for fieldwork.

However, Al-Mishari emphasised that maintaining the schedule requires continued oversight and effective coordination among all parties involved. He instructed officials to increase field monitoring and strengthen communication between government agencies, contractors and consultants. These measures aim to identify potential obstacles early and help teams resolve problems before they affect delivery timelines.

The minister also highlighted the importance of meeting the technical specifications and quality standards established for the project. Infrastructure works must support residential development while providing the services required by future residents. Therefore, officials must monitor construction quality alongside completion rates to ensure the development meets its intended purpose.

The South Saad project forms part of Kuwait’s wider efforts to address housing needs and expand residential opportunities. Developments of this scale require coordination across infrastructure, buildings and public facilities to prepare areas for future occupation. In addition, consistent project supervision can help ensure that different construction stages progress in line with one another.

PAHW continues to oversee implementation and track progress across the project’s contracts. The authority’s updates indicate that current fieldwork remains within the approved schedule, although officials must continue monitoring performance. Meanwhile, stronger coordination could help resolve construction challenges and maintain progress as work advances.

Al-Mishari’s visit reinforced the government’s focus on delivery timelines, technical standards and effective supervision. His instructions call for closer cooperation among the authorities and companies responsible for completing the development. Ultimately, the South Saad project must deliver its planned housing infrastructure while meeting the requirements set by Kuwait’s housing authorities.
