South Al Batinah Governorate recently launched an initiative focused on Rural Women Empowerment to strengthen local production and boost economic participation. The project provides women in rural areas with modern equipment designed to enhance their output from converting industries.
The initiative has already benefited 28 women from different wilayats in the governorate. It aims to empower women economically, improve living standards, and encourage sustainable practices in agriculture and livestock. By introducing modern technologies into production operations, the project adds value to locally sourced raw materials throughout the year.
Participants received a wide range of equipment, including spice and coffee grinding machines, natural oil presses, electric honey extractors, vacuum and date packaging machines, egg incubators, cow milking machines, butter sorting devices, and nut butter extraction machines. These tools will increase production efficiency, improve product quality, and reduce operating costs.
Moreover, packaging equipment will extend the shelf life of products, allowing rural women to compete more effectively in local markets. This approach directly aligns with the principles of Rural Women Empowerment, creating opportunities for financial independence and active participation in the economy.
The project also underscores the commitment of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources to sustainable development. By supporting women-led initiatives, the ministry fosters self-sufficiency, strengthens rural economies, and encourages entrepreneurship. These efforts aim to create lasting impact on communities, enabling women to transform agricultural surplus into profitable businesses.
In addition, training and technical guidance accompany the equipment distribution, ensuring women maximize productivity and adopt innovative practices.
