UDST Festival Highlights Global Student Diversity

Student diversity took center stage at the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) during its annual Festival of Cultures 2026. The festival celebrated the university’s commitment to global engagement and cultural inclusion. It brought together students from across the globe, showcasing the creativity and talent of its vibrant community.

UDST President Dr Salem Al-Naemi attended the event, along with ambassadors and official delegates. The festival, organized by the Student Engagement and Alumni Affairs Directorate, featured more than 785 students representing over 25 countries. Events included a colorful flag walk and 15 cultural performances highlighting each nation’s traditions.

Dr Al-Naemi emphasized that the festival reflects UDST’s core values: respect, openness, and collaboration. He explained that celebrating student diversity fosters meaningful interactions, strengthens community engagement, and inspires creativity. He added that cultural understanding among students builds a strong foundation for both academic and personal growth.

Awards recognized outstanding contributions during the festival. Nigeria won the Best Booth award in Africa, the Philippines in Asia, and Jordan in the Middle East. Tunisia received the Best Performance award in Africa, Sri Lanka in Asia, and Qatar in the Middle East. Other awards honored creativity, talent, and dedication to cultural representation.

The festival also included interactive workshops and networking opportunities, allowing students to share ideas, exchange experiences, and promote cross-cultural collaboration. Organizers said these activities enhance students’ communication skills and provide a platform for building international connections.

Furthermore, the event highlighted the importance of celebrating student diversity as a source of innovation. By encouraging active participation, UDST strengthens bonds between students from different cultural backgrounds. These experiences prepare graduates to engage successfully in a globalized world.

Overall, the Festival of Cultures 2026 demonstrated UDST’s dedication to fostering inclusivity, cultural awareness, and student diversity across campus. The university plans to continue supporting such initiatives, aiming to empower future leaders and global citizens.
