Oman’s Mountains Draw Visitors During Extended Winter Holiday

The Oman mountain getaway is attracting attention as residents prepare for a long weekend of travel and leisure. From the start, the Oman mountain getaway has been a top choice for domestic tourists seeking cooler climates and scenic escapes. Moreover, the extended break for Accession Day on January 15 and Isra wal Mi‘raj on Sunday encourages families and groups to explore the Sultanate’s highlands. Hotels and resorts report strong bookings and rising interest in winter stays.

Local hoteliers confirm the rising demand across Oman’s mountainous regions. Jagdeep Thakral, General Manager of dusitD2 Naseem Resort, said that direct bookings now include complimentary dinners. Meanwhile, Akbar Abbas, Resort Manager of The VIEW Oman, noted that the Al Hajar mountain range, especially Jabal Akhdar and Jabal Shams, continues to captivate visitors. Crisp mountain air, dramatic cliffs, and lush terraces provide memorable experiences.

Temperatures in Jabal Shams, Oman’s highest peak, dropped to 2.9 degrees Celsius, while Saiq recorded 2.4 degrees Celsius. These cool temperatures make the region ideal for winter retreats. Although snowfall has not occurred this year, the crisp weather and breathtaking landscapes remain major attractions. James Reeves, General Manager at Hotel Indigo Jabal Akhdar Resort & Spa, said inquiries for the upcoming long weekend show clear interest in mountain stays. Jala Spa & Wellness is offering energy therapies until January 31 to help guests relax after the festive season.

Beyond natural beauty, Oman’s mountains combine culture with adventure. Terraced farms, ancient villages, and sweeping landscapes provide a serene escape from city life. Visitors can hike rugged trails, stargaze under clear skies, or enjoy wellness treatments at luxury resorts. Hoteliers said celebrations at 2,000 meters above sea level create magical experiences where stars twinkle brighter and nature feels closer.

Overall, the Oman mountain getaway offers a unique mix of relaxation, culture, and adventure. Families, groups, and solo travelers can explore the Al Hajar range, discover hidden villages, and embrace the tranquil highlands. The Oman mountain getaway highlights the Sultanate’s diverse landscapes and reinforces its appeal as a top domestic travel destination this winter.
