Sultan Haitham of Oman Heads to Bahrain for 46th GCC Summit

Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman left the country on Wednesday, 3 December 2025, to attend the 46th Session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Bahrain. His visit emphasizes strengthening GCC cooperation, reflecting Oman’s commitment to regional collaboration, development, and unity.

The invitation for the summit came from King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain. Sultan Haitham’s attendance shows his dedication to meeting fellow Gulf leaders and discussing political, economic, and security challenges. Moreover, the discussions will address regional and global developments affecting the Gulf.

Sultan Haitham will travel with a senior official delegation. The group includes Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of the Royal Court; Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu’amani, Minister of the Royal Office; Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance; Dr. Hamad bin Said Al Aufi, Head of the Private Office; Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority; as well as Sayyid Faisal bin Harib Al Busaidi, Ambassador of Oman to Bahrain.

However, the summit will focus on regional security, economic growth, and joint initiatives among GCC states. Leaders are expected to explore ways to foster collective action and enhance integration. Sultan Haitham’s participation reinforces Oman’s commitment to strengthening GCC cooperation and promoting sustainable progress in the region.

Additionally, the summit provides a platform for exchanging experiences and coordinating strategies among Gulf leaders. It emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and mutual support. Sultan Haitham’s presence demonstrates Oman’s proactive approach to addressing shared challenges and seizing opportunities for all GCC nations.

The 46th Session of the Supreme Council will also plan long-term initiatives to ensure stability and prosperity. Sultan Haitham’s engagement reflects Oman’s dedication to strengthening GCC cooperation, emphasizing solidarity, dialogue, and continuous development across the Gulf region.
