Bahrain continues to make steady progress in human rights advancement as it celebrates sixteen years of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR). The Institution’s president, Ali Ahmed Al-Darazi, highlighted that the nation’s growing success reflects a deep commitment to justice, equality, and fairness.
He explained that the creation of the NIHR in 2009 marked a key step toward reform and openness. Since then, Bahrain has continued to align its efforts with global human rights standards. Through constant cooperation between national institutions, the country has built a system that supports individual rights while ensuring stability.
Over the years, the NIHR has taken active steps to protect fundamental freedoms. It has received complaints, carried out field visits, and monitored the human rights situation across Bahrain. Furthermore, it has provided advice and legal recommendations to improve laws and national policies. These actions have made Bahrain’s human rights advancement more visible and effective.
In addition, the Institution has launched many awareness programs and training sessions to spread a culture of respect and understanding. Through close partnerships with universities, civil groups, and international organizations, the NIHR continues to promote social participation and public awareness. As a result, more citizens now understand their rights and responsibilities.
Al-Darazi also stressed the importance of teamwork between the NIHR and the government. He stated that this partnership has helped create new initiatives and strengthen the Institution’s ability to deliver on its goals. Moreover, he expressed confidence that Bahrain will keep progressing in its human rights advancement and achieve long-term equality for all people.
Looking forward, the NIHR plans to expand its projects and introduce new programs that promote social inclusion. With ongoing dedication and collaboration, Bahrain aims to build a society where human rights are respected, protected, and constantly improved.
