Dubai Unveils Bold Strategies to Become the World’s Most Livable City

Dubai is accelerating its journey to become the world’s most livable city, introducing bold strategies to enhance urban life. Authorities are committed to transforming Dubai into a global benchmark for urban excellence.

During a recent Executive Council meeting, Dubai approved multiple plans spanning public parks, aviation, education, sports, finance, and healthcare. These initiatives aim to create a sustainable, healthy, and innovative city for residents and visitors alike.

The Public Parks and Greenery Strategy, with a budget of AED18.3 billion, will modernize over 800 projects. It includes 310 new parks, improvements to 322 existing parks, and 120 open spaces. Additionally, the initiative will develop 14 technological projects, upgrade 70 roads, and triple the number of trees across Dubai. By 2040, authorities aim for 95 million annual park visits, ensuring 80% of residents live within a five-minute walk of a park. The plan will use 100% recycled water for irrigation and expand green areas to 187 square kilometers.

Dubai also launched the Aviation Talent 33 initiative to solidify its position as the global aviation hub. The program provides over 15,000 job opportunities, 4,000 training slots, and more than 30 strategic partnerships with aviation companies. It focuses on skills development, Emiratisation in leadership roles, and technological advancement at airports, including Al Maktoum International Airport.

Education reforms aim to add 60 new affordable schools and 120,000 seats by 2033. Incentives will reduce government fees and land leasing costs, supporting Dubai’s goal of ranking among the top 10 cities for education quality.

The Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033 promotes international sporting events, develops talent, and encourages community participation. It includes 19 programs and 75 initiatives across 17 priority sports, particularly engaging youth and people of determination.

In finance, the newly approved Financial Restructuring and Insolvency Court will manage bankruptcy and restructuring cases, helping businesses continue operations and protecting investor rights.

Finally, the Early Detection Healthcare Services expansion aims to improve life expectancy and reduce chronic diseases. Authorities target a 40% increase in colon cancer screenings, a 50% rise in vaccination coverage, and patient satisfaction exceeding 90%, with waiting times under seven days.

Through these initiatives, Dubai is positioning itself as the world’s most livable city, integrating urban development, health, education, and innovation to ensure a prosperous future for all.
