Acwa Power Posts Strong Q3 Growth Amid Renewable Expansion

Saudi Arabia’s energy sector shows strong momentum, highlighted by Acwa Power growth in Q3 2025. The company reported a 17% increase in operating income for the nine months ending September 30, 2025. Net profit attributable to equity holders reached SAR 1,280 million ($341 million). This reflects steady growth despite higher financing and impairment charges.

Adjusted net profit, which excludes non-routine financial impacts, rose 22% to SAR 1,355 million. Operating income before impairments and other expenses reached SAR 2,764 million. The growth came from operating assets and development projects, showing the company’s consistent performance.

During Q3, Acwa Power signed Power Purchase Agreements in Saudi Arabia for 15 GW of renewable capacity. These cover five solar PV plants and two wind farms, with a total investment of SAR 31 billion ($8.3 billion). The company also reached financial close for three major projects, including two CCGT plants—Rumah 1 IPP and Al-Nairiyah 1 IPP—totaling SAR 15.1 billion ($4.2 billion).

Operationally, Acwa Power added 7 GW of power, 600,000 m³/day of water, and 3,000 tonnes per year of green hydrogen. Key projects reaching commercial operation included Chirchiq Green Hydrogen, Karatau and Azerbaijan Wind Projects, Saad 2, Al Rass 2, and Al Khafah PV projects. These accomplishments reinforce the company’s renewable energy leadership.

Earlier in 2025, Acwa Power completed a $1.9 billion rights issue on the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul). The funds support ongoing projects and expansion plans. The company also acquired the 100 MW Mingyang Wind Power Project in China, strengthening its global portfolio.

Executives emphasized that Acwa Power growth results from fast project execution and efficient capital mobilization. Strong financial results, combined with operational expansion, ensure long-term value for stakeholders.

Overall, with numerous projects under construction and operational milestones achieved, the Acwa Power growth trend reflects Saudi Arabia’s energy strategy. The company remains a key contributor to renewable energy, water supply, and green hydrogen production. Its efforts reinforce leadership in the region’s energy transition.
