The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture in Bahrain hosted a powerful event to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The initiative, organized by the Equal Opportunities Committee and the Social Committee, aimed to spread awareness and encourage early detection saves lives among women and the wider community.
The event took place on Sunday, October 26, 2025, and focused on promoting preventive health practices. It drew strong participation from ministry employees and health professionals, highlighting the importance of education and action in the fight against breast cancer.
Engineer Lamia Al-Fadala, Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Committee, opened the event with an inspiring speech. However, she stressed that awareness and prevention form the foundation of a healthy and balanced society. She reminded participants that women’s health is vital to the strength of families and communities alike.
Al-Fadala also said that early detection saves lives and gives women hope, strength, and the power to fight back. She explained that awareness helps women make informed decisions and encourages regular health checkups.
To enhance understanding, the event featured a lecture by Dr. Laila Hassan, a surgical specialist at King Hamad American Mission Hospital. She discussed how self-examination and regular screenings can prevent advanced cases of breast cancer. Dr. Hassan also shared practical advice on recognizing symptoms early and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Moreover, attendees benefited from clinical examination booths and personalized medical consultations. Health professionals provided on-site guidance and distributed leaflets explaining self-examination steps and recommended screening timelines. These activities empowered women with the tools and knowledge to take charge of their health.
In addition, the event highlighted collaboration among national institutions that value community well-being. The Equal Opportunities Committee and the Social Committee expressed deep gratitude to the Free Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions and King Hamad American Mission Hospital for their active cooperation. Their support strengthened the event’s impact and demonstrated how partnerships can promote meaningful health initiatives.
While the event concluded, organizers emphasized that early detection saves lives and that awareness should extend beyond October. They also urged everyone to share knowledge, support women’s health, and encourage regular checkups. By working together, Bahrain continues to foster a culture of health, care, and empowerment—one that values awareness as the path to saving lives.
