Oman and Lebanon Explore New Horizons in Economic Cooperation

Oman and Lebanon are working to strengthen trade and investment ties, highlighting their shared commitment to economic growth. On Sunday, the Omani Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion met with Lebanon’s Minister of Economy and Trade. They discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation between the two nations, focusing on trade, investment, and industrial collaboration. Both sides agreed to explore joint initiatives to expand trade exchange and develop strategic economic projects.

The discussion included proposals to activate maritime and air shipping lines, ensuring smoother logistics for Omani and Lebanese companies. Officials also highlighted the potential benefits of utilizing the Greater Arab Free Trade Area agreement. They aim to increase the volume of trade and create more re-export opportunities.

Additionally, the ministers explored forming a joint Omani-Lebanese Business Council. This council would strengthen communication between business communities in both countries and support long-term partnerships. Industrial and logistical cooperation also featured prominently, with Lebanese companies invited to benefit from Oman’s economic and industrial zones. These zones could serve as hubs for storing and re-exporting Lebanese food products.

The upcoming Omani-Lebanese Forum and trade exhibition were also emphasized. Scheduled for Monday at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, the event will bring together public and private sector representatives from both countries. Organizers plan to showcase investment opportunities, facilitate networking, and sign agreements to further economic cooperation.

The Omani minister stated that Oman prioritizes building strong economic partnerships globally, including with Lebanon. He added that the meeting provides a platform to explore new areas for trade and investment growth. Both nations aim to strengthen relations that serve mutual interests and enhance regional economic integration.

Through these efforts, Oman and Lebanon are laying the groundwork for a more connected and resilient economic future. Their focus on collaboration demonstrates how strategic planning and shared vision can advance prosperity in the region.
