Global Sports Stars Embrace UAE as Hub for Business and Opportunity

The UAE has become a top destination for global achievers seeking business and opportunity. This reputation was highlighted at a session titled “Beyond Borders: What Makes the UAE Home for Global Icons” during the Sharjah Investment Forum – World Investment Conference (SIF–WIC 2025).

The session featured boxing champion Amir Khan, former Dutch footballer Edgar Davids, and ex-French football captain Patrice Evra. Moderated by Rania Saadi, they shared how the UAE’s safety, inclusivity, and ecosystem attract global stars pursuing business and opportunity.

Amir Khan praised the UAE for its secure environment and entrepreneurial support. He explained, “The UAE offers both sport and business opportunities. Young athletes can grow here.” He also reflected on an armed robbery in London, which made him appreciate the UAE’s respect and safety.

Patrice Evra focused on the UAE’s location and connectivity. He noted that two-thirds of the world’s population is within four hours of flight. “This makes business and opportunity much easier,” Evra said. He oversees five companies in technology, wellness, beauty, and real estate. Evra added, “I can attend meetings in Asia and return home the same day.”

Edgar Davids emphasized the UAE’s ability to inspire creativity. Since moving here in 2016, he has expanded from real estate into art and design projects. He mentioned Sharjah’s cultural landmarks, including the House of Wisdom and the International Book Fair. “Sharjah combines art, culture, and innovation. It encourages communities to live, learn, and create,” Davids said.

SIF–WIC 2025 focused on “Transforming Our World: Investing for a Resilient and Sustainable Future.” The forum attracted over 10,000 participants from 142 countries. It featured 130 speakers and more than 160 sessions on investment trends, sustainability, and innovation.

Overall, the UAE continues to attract global icons seeking safety, creativity, and unmatched business and opportunity. Its ecosystem allows talent to thrive and grow in a secure, innovative environment.
