Youth Driving Kuwait’s Energy Future: Global Forum Highlights Innovation and Leadership

Kuwait hosted the 8th Youth Energy Forum alongside the World Petroleum Council’s annual meeting. Youth are the heartbeat of the energy industry, and the event highlighted their crucial role. Leaders, experts, and young professionals from 60 countries attended to discuss innovation, sustainability, and skill development.

Oil Minister Tareq Al-Roumi opened the forum. In addition, he emphasized that youth are the heartbeat of the energy industry and their participation strengthens global energy strategies. Al-Roumi explained that empowering youth spreads knowledge, builds a skilled workforce, and drives innovation. He also noted that the forum aligns with the New Kuwait 2035 vision.

Al-Roumi added that Kuwait trains thousands of young professionals for leadership roles in oil. However, programs combine science, technology, and environmental awareness to prepare youth to solve complex energy problems. He highlighted that youth participation enhances Kuwait’s influence in global oil markets and OPEC’s strategies.

OPEC Secretary-General Haitham Al-Ghais reinforced the message. He said the future of oil depends on youth. He also recalled Kuwait’s first oil concession in 1934 and the Burgan field discovery in 1938. Al-Ghais projected global energy demand will rise 23 percent by 2050, requiring $18.2 trillion in investments. Skilled youth are vital for this growth.

The forum highlighted Kuwait’s leadership in sustainable energy projects. The Kuwait Oil Company Innovation Center for AI and the National Petroleum Company’s digital projects show youth are the heartbeat of the energy industry, driving innovation and efficiency. These efforts improve operations while supporting environmental responsibility.

Speakers emphasized that the energy future must integrate oil, gas, and renewables. Youth will drive innovation, balance energy sources, as well as ensure sustainability. They stressed the importance of youth programs, partnerships, and international cooperation.

Overall, the forum concluded that empowering youth remains essential to Kuwait’s energy vision. Youth are the heartbeat of the energy industry, shaping industry growth, regional influence, and long-term sustainability.
