The Mu’izz Project for Shopping Malls is gaining momentum across the Gulf region. In Bahrain, the Ministry of Health joined the final evaluation of several shopping malls as part of this initiative. The project, created by the Healthy Cities Committee and the Gulf Health Council, focuses on strengthening community health and promoting active lifestyles.
The Ministry of Health explained that its involvement reflects Bahrain’s strong commitment to regional cooperation. In 2025, evaluators reviewed three major malls in Bahrain: Bahrain City Centre, Avenues Mall Bahrain, and Al Enma Mall. Dr. Fatima Al Mutawa, Head of Programs at the Health Promotion Department, led the evaluation process. Accredited experts from GCC health ministries also joined the committee.
The project focuses on six essential areas: healthy lifestyles, awareness campaigns, community partnership, cleanliness and environment, security and safety, and quality of community services. Evaluators conducted field visits to assess each mall’s performance. They carefully measured how malls followed the required health and safety standards.
