Bahrain Court Upholds Nine-Year Sentence in Fatal Saar Accident Case

The fatal Saar accident case has reached its final ruling. Bahrain’s Court of Appeal upheld the sentence against the accused. The decision confirms a nine-year prison term, a fine, suspension of the driver’s license, and the confiscation of both the vehicle and narcotics.

The case began after a devastating traffic collision in the Saar area. It claimed the lives of a husband, wife, and their child. Two other children from the same family suffered serious injuries. The accused was driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. He exceeded the legal speed limit and ignored traffic safety rules. He swerved into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the victims’ vehicle.

Investigations also revealed narcotics at his residence. Officers, acting under a search warrant, seized cannabis confirmed by the Department of Material Evidence. As a result, two criminal cases were filed — one for causing the fatal collision and another for drug possession.

The High Criminal Court sentenced the accused to nine years in prison with enforcement. It imposed a fine of three thousand dinars. The court also ordered his driver’s license suspended for one year after the prison term. In addition, the court ordered the confiscation of the vehicle and narcotics.

The accused appealed the ruling. However, the Court of Appeal reviewed both cases and upheld the original sentences. This outcome ensures that the punishment for the fatal Saar accident case remains in place. It also sends a strong message about the dangers of reckless driving and substance abuse.

The Attorney General, Head of the Appeals Prosecution, said the ruling shows the judiciary’s commitment to public safety. He stressed the need for strict penalties when dangerous driving and drug use cause loss of life.

With this decision, the fatal Saar accident case concludes. It reinforces Bahrain’s zero-tolerance policy on road safety violations and drug-related crimes.
