Aircraft repair facility development has begun at Muscat International Airport, marking a major step in Oman’s aviation sector expansion. On Wednesday, Oman Airports signed a land lease agreement to establish a specialized workshop for tyre and brake repairs.
Specifically, Ahmed bin Said Al Amri, CEO of Oman Airports, signed the agreement alongside Hussein Abdullah Al Haddad, CEO of EPIC, the company executing the project. The new facility will be located within the second phase of the Air Cargo Gateway at the Muscat airport logistics zone.
Moreover, the aircraft repair facility will span 7,274 square metres with a total investment of OMR5 million. It will provide inspection, repair, and restoration services for wheels and brakes. The facility will support Airbus 320 and Boeing 787 aircraft, using globally approved technical and operational standards.
Furthermore, Mach Aerospace International will operate the services. The goal is to improve operational safety, efficiency, and turnaround time at Muscat International Airport.
Al Amri said the agreement launches new land investments within the airport’s surrounding area. In line with this, Oman Airports is actively promoting development around Muscat International Airport to attract high-value projects. According to Al Amri, the company has completed a master plan for optimal land use across airport boundaries.
In addition, this plan aims to create premium investment opportunities and develop projects aligned with Oman’s long-term vision for economic growth. Al Amri also noted that Oman Airports will expand commercial operations by introducing new facilities for hospitality, entertainment, and interactive services.
As a result, this initiative will increase investment returns and support the broader real estate development sector around the airport. Al Amri stressed that the project fits within Oman Airports’ strategy to turn airport areas into dynamic economic and logistics zones.
Meanwhile, Hussein Al Haddad emphasized the strategic importance of this aircraft repair facility. He said it answers a growing demand, given the rise in air traffic through Muscat International Airport.
He added that having maintenance operations on-site helps reduce delays and improve emergency response times for airlines. Ultimately, this facility also strengthens public-private partnerships and encourages sustainable airport growth.
