Volunteers gathered on Umm Al-Maradim Island to support a major effort for environmental awareness in Kuwait. They joined forces with government agencies and private organizations to clean the coastline and protect marine life. As a result, the campaign promoted hands-on action and highlighted the need for stronger environmental values.
Organizers Salman Al-Qattan and Yousef Al-Omran led the campaign through their initiative, Bou Jarrah Makes a Difference. Their team, “Bou Jarrah Yughayyer,” spent the entire day removing waste from the beach and nearby waters. Moreover, the cleanup showed strong collaboration between public institutions and community members.
From the beginning, environmental awareness in Kuwait guided the campaign’s purpose. Organizers aimed to teach both citizens and residents the value of nature through direct involvement. Furthermore, volunteers of all ages joined to support the cause and help preserve their coastal surroundings.
Bou Jarrah emphasized the need to start with children. He explained that young people must develop good habits and respect for the environment early in life. Therefore, caring for nature becomes a lifelong responsibility for everyone.
Volunteer blogger Abdullah Al-Mishwah praised the unity between the Coast Guard, civic bodies, and local groups. He stated that such teamwork proved how Kuwait’s society can achieve real results through shared effort. In addition, he said that environmental awareness in Kuwait grows stronger when people act together.
Representatives from the Environment Public Authority, Kuwait Municipality, and other official bodies also participated. The Kuwait Coast Guard offered full support during the event. As a result, they gathered enough trash to fill four large transport trucks.
Abdulaziz Al-Muhanna from the Kuwait Environment Protection Society shared that most of the waste consisted of plastic and foam. He also underlined how the project inspired a deeper appreciation for Kuwait’s islands. Not only that, but it also increased public interest in volunteer work.
First-time participant Amina Al-Kharaji expressed pride in helping her country. She encouraged others to join similar efforts in the future. Likewise, volunteer Abdullah Ashkanani echoed her view and called on families to support beach cleaning. He reminded everyone that a clean coast supports tourism and respects Kuwait’s rich maritime history.
On the other hand, Faten Al-Dahina from the Al-Dawazah Volunteer Team urged everyone to leave beaches cleaner than they found them. She explained that national campaigns like this one educate people and help change careless habits. Additionally, Dr. Zahra Habeeb thanked organizers for their full support. This support made participation smooth and inspiring for all volunteers.
Young volunteers also made a strong impact. Abdulwahab Ahmed Nasr helped remove waste and spoke about the damage it causes marine animals. He expressed both joy and frustration. While happy to help, he felt sad seeing how careless some beachgoers had been. He ended with the words, “Kuwait deserves it,” showing his love for the country.
Another child, Mohammed Salman Al-Qattan, proudly said he removed the most trash. He shared how proud it made him and his father to see a clean beach. Moreover, he promised to keep protecting the sea from pollution.
Clearly, environmental awareness in Kuwait shaped the entire campaign and brought people together for one goal—to protect the coast. Therefore, these united efforts made a lasting difference and left a cleaner beach for everyone.
