Bahrain and France Strengthen Strategic Ties Through Joint Committee Talks

Bahrain and France strengthen strategic ties during the latest meeting of their Joint High Committee, held on July 24, 2025, in Paris. Top diplomats from both nations gathered to discuss regional developments and expand cooperation across key sectors.

Foreign Affairs Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani met with Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, at the French Ministry headquarters. The talks covered a wide range of regional and international topics. Both sides voiced their support for international law and global peace efforts.

Importantly, the ministers expressed their commitment to close coordination on global issues. This commitment becomes more significant following Bahrain’s election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, starting in January 2026.

After their bilateral meeting, both diplomats inaugurated the fourth session of the Bahraini-French Joint High Committee. Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa and Romaric Rouignan co-chaired the session. Senior officials and government representatives from both countries participated in the session, reviewing progress on joint initiatives.

The session provided a platform to evaluate ongoing cooperation between the two nations. As a result, Bahrain and France strengthen strategic ties by enhancing collaboration in trade, investment, and energy. These sectors are considered vital for sustainable development and economic transformation.

Moreover, both sides welcomed deeper engagement in education and cultural exchange. Bahrain intends to increase its use of French expertise, especially in promoting the French language in the kingdom. This reflects a broader goal of cultural diplomacy between the two nations.

The two countries also agreed to boost high-level exchanges. They see regular visits as essential to maintaining strong bilateral relations. Encouraging further political and economic collaboration was a central outcome of the meeting.

Looking ahead, Bahrain and France strengthen strategic ties by preparing for the next committee meeting. It will take place in Bahrain in 2026 and is expected to track the progress of all discussed areas.

Through continuous dialogue and cooperation, both nations aim to build a long-term partnership grounded in shared values and mutual interests.
