Organizers have designed the competition to include amateur swimmers of various age groups. This effort encourages broad participation while honoring the country’s rich marine traditions. Two main race categories are set. The first group, aged 30 to 45, will swim 1,000 meters. The second group, aged 46 and above, will compete in an 800-meter race.

The event reflects a wider initiative to revive heritage through engaging sports. According to the organizing team, all technical and safety measures are already in place. Moreover, organizers have worked to expand community participation this year. The goal is to draw more attention to sports rooted in national identity. The open water swimming event celebrates Bahrain’s maritime heritage by combining traditional values with physical fitness.

The Nasser bin Hamad Heritage Sports Season includes many other events. However, these feature traditional rowing races, Al-Heer competitions, Katam Al-Nafs, and more. Each activity aims to reconnect the community with the sea, a key part of Bahrain’s past.

Throughout the season, families, sports fans, and heritage lovers gather to support local talent. These events inspire pride, unity, and a sense of belonging. They also introduce new generations to cultural traditions through sports.
