Professional Practice License Required for Oman Logistics

The Sultanate of Oman will soon enforce a professional practice license requirement in its logistics sector. Starting September 1, 2025, workers must obtain this license to receive or renew a work permit. This rule will apply to both Omani citizens and expatriates.

The Ministry of Labour announced the move as part of efforts to regulate the labour market. It aims to improve workforce efficiency and maintain high standards across the logistics industry. Officials said the license ensures that workers meet professional requirements in their field.

Employers must also follow the new guidelines. Without proper licensing, companies will face legal and administrative consequences. This measure affects all establishments operating in Oman. It covers anyone currently working in or entering one of the listed logistics professions.

All applications for the license must be submitted online. The system is designed to streamline registration and make compliance easier for both individuals and companies.

The professional practice license will become a mandatory part of the permit process. Without it, no new work permits or renewals will be issued after the September 2025 deadline. Officials urge all parties to begin preparing now to avoid delays or penalties.

The list of covered professions includes:

  • Refrigerated Truck Driver (Tractor-Trailer)
  • Water Tanker Driver (Tractor-Trailer)
  • Tractor Head Driver (Trailer)
  • Waste Transport Truck Driver
  • Food Delivery Representative
  • Food Delivery Supervisor

These roles require specific skills and knowledge. By enforcing the license, the Ministry hopes to ensure safe and efficient logistics operations. It also promotes fair competition and protects the interests of both workers and the public.

In conclusion, the professional practice license marks a major step forward in labour regulation. Oman is setting clear expectations for workforce standards and safety. All employers and workers in logistics must act now to meet this new requirement.
