Tourism development projects in Al Jabal Al Akhdar are rapidly enhancing the wilayat’s appeal in Oman’s A’Dakhiliyah Governorate. Moreover, the region is witnessing notable progress, as new recreational and tourism facilities take shape.
The most prominent among these is the Al Jabal Al Akhdar Park, currently under construction in Seeh Qatnah. This facility is being built alongside Celebration Square, which recently hosted the opening of the Al Jabal Al Akhdar Festival 2025.
Furthermore, Sheikh Sultan Mansour Al Ghafili, Wali of Al Jabal Al Akhdar, highlighted the tangible developmental progress underway. He stated that the new projects reflect an integrated vision focused on infrastructure and quality of life.
He also noted that these tourism development projects align with Oman Vision 2040. They aim to turn the wilayat’s cultural and natural assets into lasting economic and social benefits.
In a statement to Oman News Agency, Sheikh Sultan shared that the park project has reached over 85 percent completion. Additionally, the facility is set to open in August 2025, with a total investment exceeding OMR 1.1 million.
Spanning 20,000 square metres, the park includes a 1,000-square-metre children’s play zone. It also features sports pathways, green spaces, and investment areas with a café, retail shop, and electric games section.
In addition, the park includes gender-specific prayer rooms, restrooms, and a multipurpose open-air theater. Green areas include 5,000 square metres planted with 150 trees and 400 shrubs, supported by native vegetation.
Moreover, Sheikh Sultan added that these projects enhance tourism while also supporting small enterprises and generating job opportunities. They also provide spaces for hosting national events and public celebrations.
In addition, Al Jabal Al Akhdar, working with the Al Dakhiliyah Governor’s Office, ensures these efforts promote inclusive and sustainable development. Future plans include eco-tourism, smart farming, and expanded community services.
Meanwhile, Engineer Mohammed Ali Al Wardi, Director of the Projects Department at Al Dakhiliyah Municipality, noted that the park project supports wider goals for urban development.
He further emphasized that Celebration Square now serves as a vibrant venue for cultural, artistic, and community activities. The space includes seating areas, performance zones, parking, and public amenities..
These tourism development projects position Al Jabal Al Akhdar as a key hub for sustainable tourism. The focus remains on environmental balance and cultural preservation while encouraging investment and innovation.
