Sharjah Introduces New Sewage Management Fee in Utility Bills

Sharjah authorities have announced a new sewage management service fee that will be incorporated into the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA) bills.

As per the latest decision issued by the Sharjah Executive Council, the fee will be calculated at a rate of 1.5 fils per gallon of water consumption. However, Emirati citizens will be exempt from this charge. The new policy is set to take effect on April 1, 2025.

The decision was made during a recent council meeting, presided over by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. The initiative aims to enhance infrastructure services while ensuring sustainable resource management across the emirate
