Barzan Holdings expands Qatar-Indonesia defense ties with new arms deals

Barzan Holdings, the investment arm of Qatar’s Ministry of Defense, has significantly strengthened Qatar-Indonesia defense ties by signing three strategic agreements with the Indonesian army. These deals took place on the sidelines of the Indo Defense Expo and Forum in Jakarta. They reflect growing defense cooperation.

One major agreement enables Barzan Holdings to supply rifles and ammunition directly to the Indonesian Ministry of Defense. This further enhances Qatar-Indonesia defense ties. Eng. Mohamed bin Badr Al Sadah, Group CEO of Barzan Holdings, and General Yusuf Johari from Indonesia’s defense ministry signed the agreement. This reinforces military cooperation between the two nations.

In addition, Barzan partnered with Indonesian firm REPUBLIKORP on two joint agreements to establish a local ammunition factory. This initiative reflects the deepening Qatar-Indonesia defense ties. It aims to boost Indonesia’s defense production capacity. At the same time, it deepens bilateral collaboration.

Barzan also expanded its strategic alliance with Indonesia Defense Systems Technologies (IDST), the national defense group. This partnership further highlights Qatar-Indonesia defense ties as the two organizations co-exhibited at the event. They showcased jointly developed innovations that reflect the strength of their growing partnership.

Throughout the exhibition, Barzan Holdings demonstrated its broad capabilities, including modular weapons, AI-driven command and control platforms, counter-drone systems, and unmanned surface vehicles. These offerings reflect Qatar’s strong focus on innovation in defense technologies.

By actively participating in Indo Defense Expo and Forum, Barzan Holdings continues to grow its presence in Southeast Asia. The company’s leadership emphasized its commitment to long-term cooperation with Indonesia in defense technology, training, and joint production.

These new agreements not only represent a milestone in bilateral military relations, but they also align with Qatar’s global strategy. This strategy focuses on building impactful, innovation-driven defense partnerships. The expanding Qatar-Indonesia defense ties underline both countries’ dedication to security and regional stability.
