94 Academic Programs Receive Accreditation in Bahrain, Boosting Higher Education

Bahrain’s Minister of Education, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, recently announced a significant achievement in the country’s education sector. The Ministry granted academic accreditation in Bahrain to 94 programs across various public and private higher education institutions. These programs received five-year accreditation after meeting the rigorous criteria set by the Higher Education Council.

The newly accredited programs span a wide range of disciplines. At the University of Bahrain, 33 programs received approval, including 27 Bachelor’s and 6 Master’s degrees. Bahrain Polytechnic also had six Bachelor’s programs accredited. Ahlia University saw 15 programs approved, including a PhD program. Other institutions such as the Applied Science University, the Royal University for Women, and the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance also benefited from this decision.

The accreditation decision reflects Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to improve its higher education system. Academic accreditation in Bahrain ensures that institutions maintain high educational standards. It also promotes the competitiveness of Bahraini universities and helps enhance the quality of the workforce.

During the announcement, Minister Juma emphasized that the accreditation process results from coordinated efforts between the Higher Education Council, the Education and Training Quality Authority, and the Academic Accreditation Committee. He highlighted that the Council would continue to monitor the fulfillment of accreditation requirements. This is to maintain high standards across all accredited programs.

The move is part of Bahrain’s broader strategy to enhance the education sector and foster innovation. With academic accreditation in Bahrain now extended to numerous programs, the Kingdom is positioning itself as a leader in education excellence in the region. These new accreditations will further strengthen Bahrain’s educational reputation. They provide students with more opportunities for quality education.

In conclusion, the decision to grant academic accreditation to 94 programs marks a key milestone in Bahrain’s education reform. It not only improves the quality of higher education but also supports the Kingdom’s goal of nurturing a skilled, competitive workforce ready for the future.
