The U.S. Embassy in Kuwait, in partnership with the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters, recently hosted an exhibition titled “Allied Efforts and Documentation of the Liberation” at the National Museum. The event marked a significant occasion to celebrate the enduring partnership between the United States and Kuwait. It particularly highlighted the U.S.’s role in liberating Kuwait during the 1990 Gulf War.
H.E. Karen Sasahara, the U.S. Ambassador to Kuwait, attended the exhibition and spoke about the pivotal role the United States played in Kuwait’s liberation. She emphasized that the exhibition serves as a reminder of the courage, resilience, and solidarity that strengthened the relationship between the two nations. “As we look to the future, let us recall moments from the past. When a man named Saddam Hussein tried to erase Kuwait’s identity with his tanks. But 34 years later, all we see here is Kuwait’s true, unique, and independent identity,” Sasahara remarked.
The Ambassador further highlighted the importance of Kuwait’s National Holidays in reinforcing the spirit of friendship and partnership between the two countries. She added, “There is a famous saying that the best revenge is to live a prosperous life, and I believe Kuwait is living a very prosperous life.”
Dr. Mohammed Al-Jassar, the Secretary-General of the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters, spoke of the museum as a living testament to Kuwait’s strength and will. “The National Museum is not just a building, but a living testament to Kuwait’s steadfastness,” he said. Al-Jassar noted that the museum’s vast collection, including the renowned Al-Sabah Collection, reflects Kuwait’s rich history spanning over 7,000 years. He mentioned that this exhibition added a new chapter to Kuwait’s narrative. It documents its liberation and the subsequent reconstruction and renaissance.
Bashar Al-Salem, the founder of the Gardenia Exhibition at the Scientific Museum, expressed deep gratitude for the role played by the United States during Kuwait’s most challenging moments. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by American soldiers and praised their heroic efforts in liberating the country. “The courage and sacrifices of American soldiers will never be forgotten. Their contribution to supporting Kuwait will remain engraved in our national memory,” he said.

The exhibition was a powerful reminder of the enduring bonds between the two nations. It highlighted the shared history of courage, cooperation, and commitment to a prosperous future.
