Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi revealed plans on Tuesday to introduce self-driving vehicles in Saudi Arabia this year. This marks a major milestone in the Kingdom’s mobility transformation.
Speaking at the Saudi-US Investment Forum in Riyadh, Khosrowshahi said the company is working with autonomous driving partners and Saudi ministries. Their goal is to localize the technology. Discussions are progressing rapidly. This reflects Saudi Arabia’s drive to adopt emerging solutions at scale.
He highlighted Saudi Arabia as one of Uber’s fastest-growing markets, with over 140,000 Saudi drivers and 4 million active users. Uber’s services span 20 cities, with a year-on-year growth rate exceeding 70%.
Looking ahead, he emphasized that autonomous vehicles will lower transport costs, enhance safety, and revolutionize logistics and delivery services. Uber already partners with 18 global AV firms and is positioning itself as a seamless platform connecting technology, government, and mobility.
