UAE Residents Gaze at 2025’s Biggest and Brightest Moon, the Beaver Supermoon

Dubai residents witnessed a breathtaking Beaver Supermoon spectacle on Wednesday, marking the largest and brightest full moon of 2025. The Dubai Astronomy Group hosted the event at Al Awir Second Park, giving attendees a rare chance to observe the moon through professional telescopes.

Dozens of astronomy enthusiasts gathered from early evening. Experts guided participants, providing explanations about the celestial phenomenon and answering questions throughout the night. This interactive experience highlighted the Beaver Supermoon spectacle for all attendees.

The Beaver Supermoon occurs when the November full moon aligns closely with Earth in its elliptical orbit. This alignment made the moon appear 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than a regular full moon. The golden and orange hues at moonrise gradually transitioned to bright white as the moon climbed higher in the night sky.

The name “Beaver Moon” originates from early seasonal observations. Historically, November marked the time when beavers prepared for winter by building dams and storing food. Native American and colonial communities used these natural cues to track the seasons and named each full moon accordingly.

During the event, visitors enjoyed telescope observations of the moon’s surface in stunning detail. Organizers also facilitated phone photography sessions, enabling participants to capture impressive images of the moon through telescopes. Many attendees shared their excitement over the unique viewing experience.

Experts explained the astronomical significance of the event, emphasizing its rarity and visual impact. This was the second in a series of three supermoons in 2025. The Hunter’s Supermoon appeared on October 7, and the Cold Supermoon will conclude the trilogy on December 5.

Participants left the event with a deeper appreciation of the night sky. The Beaver Supermoon spectacle allowed residents to connect with astronomy while enjoying a social and educational evening. Organizers praised the favorable weather, noting that it enhanced visibility despite some dusty conditions.

Overall, the Beaver Supermoon captivated Dubai residents and visitors alike. The event combined scientific learning, stunning visuals, and interactive experiences, highlighting the wonder of celestial phenomena and the importance of public engagement in astronomy.
