UAE Introduces 10-Year Golden Visa for Waqf Donors to Boost Community Giving

The United Arab Emirates launched a new Golden Visa category granting 10-year renewable residency. It targets donors supporting charitable endowments through Waqf and humanitarian projects.

The announcement occurred during GITEX Global 2025 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The agreement involved the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) and the Endowments and Minors Affairs Foundation (Awqaf Dubai).

Lt Gen Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA-Dubai, described the initiative as an advanced model of governmental integration. He added it empowers donors to contribute to community development and promote giving as well as sustainability.

Eligible donors can be nominated for the Golden Visa based on contributions to Waqf projects. However, these include funding mosques, schools, hospitals, and other charitable initiatives. The visa encourages long-term engagement and social investment.

The UAE aims to attract global philanthropists who want to support communities in meaningful ways. Authorities noted that recognizing donors strengthens social cohesion and motivates ongoing charitable activity.

This initiative aligns with the UAE’s broader goals of innovation and sustainability in social development. Rewarding donors ensures continuous contributions to resilient communities. The program also sets an example for other countries linking philanthropy with residency incentives.

The Golden Visa process includes a clear evaluation system. Applicants must also demonstrate their financial contributions and ongoing involvement in Waqf or humanitarian projects. Authorities will review applications carefully to ensure genuine impact.

The program also benefits families. Eligible donors can sponsor immediate family members, providing long-term stability for contributors and their relatives. This approach encourages wider participation in charitable programs.

The new Golden Visa demonstrates a modern approach to governance and social responsibility. By focusing on supporting charitable endowments, the UAE encourages both local and international donors to invest in humanitarian projects.

Through this program, the UAE positions itself as a regional hub for philanthropy, innovation, and sustainable development. Officials plan to expand similar initiatives in the future, further boosting charitable engagement.
