The recent visit of President Donald Trump to the United Arab Emirates marks a bold stride in reinforcing the UAE–US strategic partnership.
The visit highlights the shared commitment to expanding economic cooperation and unlocking new avenues of collaboration. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, praised the visit as a reflection of the UAE leadership’s vision. “This visit strengthens partnership bridges and supports economic openness,” he said. “The UAE and the United States share a history of friendship and strategic understanding.”
The key phrase UAE–US strategic partnership reflects the central theme of this visit. It was repeated throughout high-level discussions, emphasizing its depth and scope.
Al Marri noted that nearly 13,000 American companies now operate in the UAE. The country also hosts over 66,000 US trademarks, highlighting deep business integration. At the same time, more than 115 Emirati companies have investments in the US across vital sectors. These include technology, aviation, AI, hospitality, healthcare, and e-commerce.
Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, stressed the importance of expanding this trade alliance. “The United States is a close partner and friend,” he said. “We aim to keep growing bilateral trade by easing the flow of goods, services, and capital.”
He added that the United States is the UAE’s top trading partner outside Asia and its sixth-largest globally. Trade between the two nations reached $32.8 billion in 2024, accounting for 4% of the UAE’s non-oil trade.
Tourism also plays a central role in the UAE–US strategic partnership. According to Al Marri, around 980,200 American visitors arrived in the UAE in 2024. This marked a 5.4% increase over the previous year. With 112 weekly flights connecting the two countries, the travel volume shows strong momentum.
Al Marri also noted that tourism growth supports shared goals of cultural exchange and economic synergy. As the countries continue to enhance connectivity, mutual understanding deepens.
Leaders from both countries confirmed their focus on mutual sectors like clean energy, sustainable development, and advanced technology. These areas will drive future initiatives under the UAE–US strategic partnership.
The visit not only reaffirmed existing ties but also opened new doors for future cooperation. As both countries align strategies, their partnership grows stronger and more dynamic with each passing year.
