U.S. President Donald Trump has suggested he could meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin shortly after an upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, scheduled for mid-May.
When asked by reporters whether a meeting with Putin might take place in Saudi Arabia, Trump responded: “It’s possible, but most likely not. I think we’ll meet with him shortly thereafter,” according to sources.
While the two leaders have held phone conversations since the onset of the full-scale war in Ukraine, they have not met in person during that time. The potential meeting would mark their first face-to-face encounter since the conflict began.
