RIYADH: Saudi authorities have successfully dismantled three criminal networks involved in drug smuggling and trafficking across the regions of Asir, Jazan, and the Eastern Province. This information comes from a statement by the Saudi Interior Ministry on Sunday.
The networks were allegedly smuggling drugs into various parts of the Kingdom and laundering the profits generated from their illicit activities. A total of 19 individuals were arrested in connection with the operations. This group includes several government employees.
Among those detained were five employees from the Ministry of Interior and seven workers from the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority. Additionally, three employees from the Ministry of Defense were arrested. All suspects are facing legal action. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that these arrests serve as a reminder of the vigilance of Saudi security forces in combating criminal activities. They are particularly focused on drug-related offenses. This effort aims to protect the nation and its youth from the destructive impact of narcotics.
