The View Hospital Makes History with Qatar’s First Private-Sector PFO Closure

In a major milestone for private healthcare in Qatar, The View Hospital has successfully performed the country’s first Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) closure procedure in the private sector. This marks a significant advancement in the local availability of specialized cardiac care.

The medical team completed the minimally invasive procedure in just 20 minutes at the hospital’s advanced catheterization lab. Dr. Noureddin Sawan, a consultant in cardiology and electrophysiology, supervised the entire process. A PFO is a small hole in the heart that can increase the risk of stroke. Closing it can greatly reduce potential complications and improve patient outcomes.

“This success is not just a medical achievement; rather, it represents a real opportunity to save lives and enhance quality of life,” said Dr. Sawan

With this breakthrough, The View Hospital is now the only private facility in Qatar offering a full range of advanced cardiac devices. This development reduces the need for patients to seek specialized treatment outside the country.

Beyond the cutting-edge technology, the hospital emphasized its patient-centered philosophy. “At The View Hospital, treatment is not just about procedures and equipment—it’s about compassion and support,” Dr. Sawan added.

This achievement highlights The View Hospital’s continued investment in innovative healthcare solutions.
