The Shura Council met yesterday to end its fourth regular session of the First Legislative Term. In light of recent regional developments, including the Al Udeid attack, the meeting took place in the Tamim bin Hamad Hall at the Council’s headquarters. Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim led the session.
At the start, the Shura Council strongly condemned the Al Udeid attack on June 23. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps carried out this attack. The Council stressed that the Al Udeid attack violated Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace. Moreover, it went against international law and the United Nations Charter.
Furthermore, members said this act damaged good neighborly ties and harmed efforts to keep the region peaceful. They explained that all relations should rest on trust and respect to ensure stability.
Additionally, the Council thanked Qatar’s Armed Forces, led by Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, for their quick and strong defense. Members praised their fast action and high readiness. As a result, their work calmed citizens and stopped the situation from getting worse.
Meanwhile, the Council also thanked all officials for their clear and fast response. Their strong work protected the country and gave people confidence.
Moreover, the Shura Council appreciated the support from regional and global parliamentary groups. It also thanked friendly and brotherly countries for standing by Qatar after the Al Udeid attack.
In the same context, the Council welcomed the ceasefire deal between Iran and Israel. It praised Qatar’s diplomatic efforts to push for peace in the region. These steps, members said, help create a safer Middle East and show Qatar’s support for dialogue to solve conflicts.
Finally, the Council stressed its strong will to protect Qatar’s safety and interests. Members promised to back all efforts that keep the country safe and secure. By standing firm after the Al Udeid attack, the Shura Council proved Qatar’s deep focus on peace and protecting its people.
