Sharjah Cracks Down on Lane Violations Amid Surge in Offenders

Sharjah Police have recorded more than 30,000 lane discipline violations since new regulations started on November 1. The rules cover motorcycles, delivery bikes, buses, and heavy vehicles, aiming to make roads safer for everyone. Authorities emphasized that following these rules reduces accidents and improves traffic flow across the emirate.

Many drivers ignored designated lanes, causing traffic hazards. Heavy vehicles breaking lane rules face a Dh1,500 fine and 12 black points, while other drivers who disregard signs receive Dh500. Sharjah Police continue to enforce these rules rigorously to ensure compliance.

Officials rely heavily on technology to monitor roads. Smart radars and advanced cameras track violations, while traffic patrols actively intervene when drivers break rules. Authorities noted that consistent enforcement encourages responsible driving and protects vulnerable road users, especially motorcycles and delivery riders.
