Sharjah Charity International has launched a large-scale humanitarian project to deliver fresh bread daily to 20,000 people in Gaza.
The Gaza bread aid initiative is part of the UAE’s emergency response to worsening conditions in the region.
With a monthly budget of Dh750,000, the bakery project addresses a critical food gap affecting vulnerable groups.
Children, the elderly, and displaced families will benefit most from this life-saving programme.
The aid operation supports the Gallant Knight 3 campaign, launched by President Sheikh Mohamed to aid civilians in Gaza.
It follows a high-level agreement between Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar to allow humanitarian access.
Abdullah Sultan bin Khadim, Executive Director of Sharjah Charity International, outlined the initiative’s goals.
“This project helps those in extreme hardship, especially families struggling with displacement and hunger,” he said.
He added, “Bread is a daily essential, and this initiative will provide dignity along with nutrition.”
The bakeries will operate across targeted zones, prioritising areas with severe supply shortages.
Earlier, the organisation also implemented water and food security projects across the enclave.
These included digging 12 wells and launching community kitchens for hot meal distribution.
The Gaza bread aid initiative represents one of the largest food relief efforts currently operating inside the Strip.
It aims to stabilize access to food where bakeries have been damaged or face operational constraints.
Sharjah Charity confirmed that every loaf will be distributed directly to families, ensuring efficiency and impact.
Bin Khadim urged the UAE public to support the initiative through ongoing donations and solidarity.
The Gaza bread aid initiative stands as a testament to the UAE’s commitment to humanitarian relief and regional compassion.
