Dubai, UAE – The much-anticipated Saudi-Egyptian co-production The Tale of Daye’s Family, directed by Karim El-Shenawy, had its European premiere at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale).
This film marks a milestone for Saudi actress Aseel Omran, who makes her debut in Egyptian cinema. The talented cast also includes Islam Mubarak, Badr Mohamed, and Haneen Saeed, with special appearances from Ahmed Helmy, Mohamed Shahin, Mohamed Mamdouh, and Amina Khalil.
The Tale of Daye’s Family, featured in the Generation 14 Plus category, tells the story of Daye, a 14-year-old Nubian albino child gifted with a remarkable voice. Dreaming of becoming like his idol, the Egyptian music legend Mohamed Mounir, Daye’s family decides to take a life-changing step and travel to Cairo for an audition on the famous talent show The Voice.
Before its Berlin premiere, the film was also showcased at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, where it opened the fourth edition of the event.
The Berlin International Film Festival continues until February 23.
