RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman extended his congratulations to Lebanon’s newly appointed Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, following the formation of his new government, the Saudi Press Agency reported early Thursday.
Lebanon’s new government secured a confidence vote in Parliament on Wednesday, with 95 out of 128 lawmakers backing Prime Minister Salam’s administration. Despite receiving support from Hezbollah’s bloc, the government’s statement addressed the group’s weapons critically.
Prime Minister Salam, a prominent jurist and former head of the International Court of Justice, was appointed to lead Lebanon’s recovery after the recent war between Israel and Hezbollah, which left over 4,000 dead and caused significant destruction. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman wished Salam success in his new role and expressed hopes for further progress and prosperity for the Lebanese people.
