Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 Drives Women’s Empowerment at Global Conference

Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 is shaping a new future for women, bringing major progress in different fields. At the 69th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York, experts discussed how this national plan is changing women’s roles in society.

A special panel titled “From Vision to Reality: Saudi Arabia’s Story of Women’s Empowerment” highlighted the country’s progress. Women leaders spoke about their experiences, reforms, and achievements under Vision 2030. These changes have reshaped opportunities in politics, education, and business.

One of the speakers, Prof. Hanan Al-Ahmadi, assistant speaker of the Shoura Council, explained how new policies are strengthening women’s roles in politics. Saudi Arabia now has 30 female members in the council. These changes reflect Vision 2030’s focus on creating real opportunities for women.

Princess Lamia bint Majid, secretary general of Alwaleed Philanthropies, discussed how charitable projects support women. Her foundation has helped educate thousands of women about their legal rights and economic opportunities. One of her key projects, “Craftswomanship,” has trained over 3,500 female artisans, helping them reach global markets.

Education remains a key focus of Vision 2030. Prof. Einas Al-Eisa, president of Princess Noura University, emphasized how academic progress is opening doors for women. Female enrollment in universities is high, and Vision 2030 has made it easier for women to enter fields like healthcare, technology, and energy. Women’s participation in the ICT sector has grown from 7% to 35%, showing major progress.

Dr. Maimoonah Al-Khalil, secretary general of the Family Affairs Council, shared data proving that Vision 2030 is working. Women’s employment rates have jumped from 17% to 36% since 2016, and unemployment has dropped from 34% to 13.6%. More women are now taking leadership roles, especially in science and technology.

These achievements are not only changing Saudi Arabia but also inspiring other countries. Women are leading in politics, business, and education, breaking down barriers once thought impossible. Vision 2030 is shaping a new future for women with unlimited opportunities.
