Saudi Arabia has officially submitted its registration dossier to host World Expo 2030 in Riyadh. Fahd bin Mayouf Al-Ruwaili, the Saudi ambassador to France, presented the document to Dimitri Kerkentzes, the Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).
Kerkentzes praised the Kingdom’s clear and strategic organizational vision for Expo 2030, acknowledging the significant efforts Saudi Arabia has made in preparing for this global event. He noted that the submission reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to closely cooperating with BIE to ensure the success of the Expo.
Saudi Arabia won the bid to host the World Expo in November 2023, after securing 119 of the 165 votes in a secret ballot. This victory surpassed bids from South Korea and Italy.
The registration dossier marks the formal beginning of the event preparations. It includes a detailed plan covering all aspects of the Expo, such as organizational, operational, and procedural elements. The document also outlines the legislative, regulatory, and financial measures required, along with the site master plan, international participation guidelines, and legacy utilization strategies.
BIE members will now review the dossier ahead of its official approval at the organization’s general assembly. Once adopted, Saudi Arabia can move forward with practical preparations and extend official invitations for international participation.
